WECON is continuously expanding its product range – as a response to the increasing demand for individual solutions. This has led to bodies featuring height-adjustable roof designs, Hamburg canopy top frames, sliding curtains, sliding or steel roofs and high-volume designs with a guaranteed internal width of 2,480 millimetres (also in the tailgate area) and an internal height of up to 3,200 millimetres. The height of the individual roof designs can be effortlessly adjusted by means of the gear-operated rack-and-pinion jacks in the corner stanchions, allowing the WECON bodies to create extra volume with ease. In terms of options for the back panel, WECON can fit galvanised tailgate doors with externally mounted locking bars or barn doors with internally mounted locking bars.
The company WECON was founded in Westphalia in 1988 and began operations in Fröndenberg on the outskirts of the eastern Ruhr region. As the customer base grew, so did the number of business segments in which the company was active. After seven years, WECON reached its limits at its original business location. Expansion meant moving to Ascheberg near Münster, where new production facilities were built on an area covering 23,000 square metres. Today, all chassis and bodies are built here.
WECON is an international set-up: in as early as 1999, a sales subsidiary was established in Switzerland in order to gain a foothold on the international market. There are further bases in Austria, Poland, Scandinavia, Russia and the Netherlands. WECON relies on dependable system suppliers; these are primarily medium-sized German businesses.
The managing directors of WECON GmbH are Franz-Josef and Christel Hemker. The medium-sized business currently employs 70 people at its headquarters in Ascheberg and there is production capacity for ten to twelve units per day. Since the company was founded, around 30,000 units have left the production facilities and have been proving their quality at numerous renowned transport companies ever since.
